Visalus’ Molly Dalbec Discusses Making Healthy Family A Priority

Before Vi, Molly and Chris Dalbec were new parents. Molly had always been athletic, but between late night feedings and adjusting to her new role, she lost sight of self-care. 
 
She opted for quick and easy food choices for months before exhaustion and malnourishment kicked in. After consulting with a local nutritionist, Molly realized she needed to make some major changes to her diet—and lifestyle.
She was at a crossroads. Weighing the pros and cons of being a stay-at-home-mom versus returning to her career field as a medical assistant, Molly found the daycare costs compared to what she would be taking home if she went back to work simply weren’t worth the time she would be missing with her young son.

Lisa M. Wilber is currently the # 5 money earner in the United States with Avon Products, Inc. and has a team of nearly 3,000 Representatives whom sold more than $8 million in 2014.
With cumulative earnings over $4 1/2 million dollars, Lisa is referred to by Avon as "the best known Avon Representative in the world".
Lisa was the first Senior Executive Unit Leader on the USA East Coast with Avon's multi-level marketing program entitled "Leadership" in March 1994. She is often asked to speak at functions around the country and is proud to be a serving member of the Board of Directors for The Academy of Multi-Level Marketing (www.academyofmlm.com).
Lisa created a line of products to help her own team and has turned that into a business to help anyone in direct sales, network marketing and party plan.  The line includes her own authored books, her "View from the Top" series of books and audio flash drives co-authored by Avon's top producers, promotional buttons, sales aids and many of her favorite author's materials as well.

Lisa, how did you discover Network Marketing, I guess a friend invited you years ago?
When I first joined Avon they didn't offer network marketing. I joined Avon in 1981 when I was just 18 years old and I lived on Guam.
I sold part time for a few years and didn't realize it could be a career until I had moved to New Hampshire, gotten laid off a secretarial job and couldn't find another job but needed the money.  I had to turn my part time Avon involvement into full time work or I wouldn't have money enough to live on.
That was in 1987, and it took me a while selling full time to replace my secretary pay — but I did it.  Avon introduced their network marketing program in 1991 on the west coast but it wasn't available to me on the east coast until 1992 — and then I wasn't interested in it.  I had heard bad things about network marketing. My only exposure had been a friend that invited me over their house for dinner only to be pressured by an opportunity presentation. 
I thought that was how all network marketing people did things.  Once I realized that didn't have to be how I did it — I jumped in with both feet!  I decided to join Avon's Leadership program in January 1993 and made it to the top of the pay plan in March 1994.  I have retained my top of the pay plan status consecutively since then.

Can you explain in short Avon's compensation plan, it is a party plan?
I have never done an Avon party — we are not generally a party plan company.  The 4 1/2 million in earnings you are referring to is my commission for my network marketing team.  I get paid to find people that want to sell Avon, help them start their business, train them, recognize their achievements and help them along their business journey. 
Some of my team members are full time, many are part time — so my level of involvement is different with each person.  I offer support to my team much like any other manager with sales people would do: I send welcome packs when they start, I offer training conference calls, I have a group team Facebook page and post ideas and tips, I send out award certificates to my top sellers.  Just like with most other companies, I get paid based on what my team produces for sales. 
By the way: the 4 1/2 million in earnings does not include other money that I have earned from Avon for profit from personal product sales, car allowance (I have earned a car allowance consecutively since March 1994), bonuses or the value of the over 30 all expenses paid trips that I have earned.

What is the key for your success?
There isn't *one* thing that has made this work for me – it's been a lot of little things, consistently over time.  Avon was known for door knocking when I first started, but I knew that wasn't something I wanted to do, so I found a way to market myself and still build a big business without door knocking. 
I didn't want to invite people over for dinner and then "bait and switch" them into hearing my opportunity presentation, so I found other ways to get people interested in joining my team.  I think it's been important that I found what works for me, found what I was comfortable doing that produced results.
If my actions didn't produce results, I keep trying new things until I found what I was comfortable doing that produced the results that I needed.  Plugging into a way someone else was doing this wouldn't have worked for me and I don't believe it would work for most people. You have to think and try things until you find what works for you and produces results.
Lisa Wilber - The House Avon BuildIs personal development important for you?
EXTREMELY!  I have found that if I am not "prepared" inside to earn bigger money, it won't happen on the outside, either.  I have to know that I provide the value to go along with those earnings — or the earnings won't come. 
I'll hit my own self-destruct button!  I personally have to do a lot of reading, attending workshops, seminars and trainings and seeking out everything I can find on making myself better — in general and in business — or I start feeling that I don't deserve the income I receive.
That can sabotage your business in a big way.  I am always trying to learn more and grow — to be a better leader, a better marketer, a better parent, a better example to my team, a better daughter.
Any "Killer" tip for a newbie?
When you increase your value and become a better salesperson, a better marketer, a better leader — it helps everyone around you.  "A rising tide lifts all boats".  Be the tide.

An Independent MLM Trainer – Secretly Recruiting?

Frank Heister lives in Phoenix, Arizona and was born in Germany. He promoted himself as an independent MLM trainer, working in Germany and the USA. However, it seems after his generic trainings he recruits for Seacret Direct instead, which has, of course, upset many leaders in the network marketing industry.
Network Marketing leader Erik Munchmeyer has sent him an open letter, the original version is in German, below you will find the rough translation:
"Dear Frank Heister,
We do not know each other personally but I have to write to you something.
I would otherwise do this in private, but you're a public figure. I want to congratulate you with all my heart, you never stop learning as I just had to find … You have invented a new modern form of MLM;
"How to build an independent trainer in the background of an MLM organization."
As I learned from your own video you got into MLM about 5 years ago and even though you were promised millions, after 2 years you still had no success. After hearing an MLM trainer say 'it's up to you to change yourself' you decided to become a coach instead.
So far so good, until here it's all the same … people like you, after all. You know the true secrets of Network Marketing. I respect that, and if people like it that's a wonderful thing.
But perhaps you know the saying "preach water and drink wine". It really turns my stomach when I see self-proclaimed gurus jump on stage and say that their trainings are generic and no recruiting allowed. Yet, in the background of his own trainings he is recruiting for his own team!
I had highly motivated distributors attending your generic trainings and then after your event, you and your Seacret disciples gathered them and attempted to recruit them. Following that, you did 3 way calls with my top leadership.
Then all are involved where funny videos are shared, sitting with people by candlelight in a circle and tell, with tears, that they were rescued in Seacret Whatsapp groups, where they're told only to recruit people who can afford the $2000 package. 
Let me guess, the next announcement likely coming soon is that you "officially" are ending your career as a generic coach and are starting in a Network Marketing company — one in which you've already been a part of for over 2 years. I really congratulate you wholeheartedly, first-class work. I hope you are able to look in the mirror every day and are proud of what you have done in MLM.

Xavier University graduate and former schoolteacher has found restoration in Total Life Changes. TLC’s Regional Director, Andrea Blackley was raised in a single parent household. She grew up experiencing the challenges of providing for a family with only one income.
Her mother’s fight against cancer also impacted her while growing up at an early age. “She was stricken with cervical cancer when I was in fourth grade, and that experience groomed me to become a very strong, independent women,” recalls Andrea.

Andrea was concerned that her salary as a teacher wouldn’t allow for her to lead the lifestyle she dreamed of and provide for her son adequately, so she began to question her career even though she had always found a way to supplement her income; typically by selling jewelry and handbags.
“I was always a part time hustler, trying to earn extra money for my household. In 2008, I decided to get a part time job at Nordstrom and I met a young man who truly introduced me to Network Marketing.  From 2008 to 2013, I learned so much about this incredible industry. I was introduced to a different level of leadership and a six-figure yearly income and lifestyle. Life was pretty amazing, because of change, growth, and a new perspective on earning income.  Residual income was now my new best friend.”
Life became exciting for this single parent, now earning more and doing more for her son and her extended family. She was able to purchase a new E550 Mercedes Benz, a nice home and provide well for her son. But, poor decisions and some unfortunate changes in relationships led to personal devastation and depression. Andrea’s income reduced dramatically, she filed for bankruptcy, forfeited her home and most importantly, she lost her self-confidence.  “I was in a very dark place. I moved back to Tampa, Florida, where I was hoping to breathe some new air. But I still couldn’t catch a break. I was soon evicted and forced to petition a friend for a place to stay, something I was totally against, but I had no other choice,” recalls Andrea.
Andrea continued to struggle financially. In October 2014 she accepted a position at True Religion, working for $9 an hour. Although this was not a career choice for Andrea, she did what she does best, “hustle”. She was recognized as an incredible employee with tremendous sales and was soon offered a management position. Andrea was flattered for the recognition, but ultimately she knew that she would not be establishing a career at this department store and declined the offer. Two months later, after losing all of her mobile phone contacts, she answered an unfamiliar number. It was current TLC Ambassador, Erwin Portis from Houston, Texas. “Erwin contacted me the day after Christmas in 2014. I was hesitant to speak with him about another MLM opportunity, but he assured me TLC had the whole package,’ says Andrea Blackley.

New figures have revealed that direct selling is thriving in the UK, with over a third of the UK population (34%) having chosen to buy products through this method, including via parties, catalogues or face-to-face.
The research, from the Direct Selling Association (DSA), the trade body for the industry, and YouGov, also found that 7% of people in the UK have worked as direct sellers.  The figures reflect the industry’s growth in popularity in the UK, with DSA figures showing 400,000 people now make money as direct sellers – more than any other type of part time work in the country.
Direct selling includes products bought from a catalogue delivered by direct sellers (such as cosmetics), products bought in a group party environment (like kitchen equipment or jewellery), products demonstrated in a customers’ home (such as make up), or products bought direct from a direct seller at events like craft fairs or fitness clubs (like cards or nutritional supplements). Members of the DSA include Avon, Stella & Dot, The Pampered Chef, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Mary Kay and Arbonne.
Direct selling provides individuals with a unique opportunity to work flexibly around other commitments and run your own business.  When people begin direct selling they purchase a starter kit, which is on average £100 for a business kit and sample products. They can then begin selling the products, making back a percentage of the sales they make.

WFDSA: Global Direct Selling Industry Records New High At $182.8 billion

The World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA) has published its 2015 Annual Report, supplying the most comprehensive data on the state of direct selling worldwide.
The industry has continued its steady growth curve in 2014, seeing unprecedented sales and engagement with 6.4% growth generating $182.8 billion.
Asia continues to outpace other markets, accounting for 45 % of global retail sales. The Americas follow at 37 % and Europe at 17%, with Africa and the Middle East representing the final 1%. In the past three years, the industry has seen a compound annual growth rate of 6.5 percent.
Behind direct selling’s positive growth trend are millions of entrepreneurs marketing an array of products and services. In 2014, their numbers swelled to 99.7 million, a 3.4 percent increase from 2013. Asia Pacific accounts for 51.1 million direct sellers, more than any other region, but the most significant growth took place in the Americas, where the salesforce increased 5.7% to 33.1 million.
 
“People today want to be able to determine their own hours, where they work, their level of commitment and effort, and their own goals,” WFDSA Chairman Doug DeVos, President of Amway, wrote in an introduction to the report. “This is what direct selling has been offering people for more than a century. And it’s why our industry is more compelling today than ever.”
DeVos also called on direct selling leaders to strengthen the industry’s image by proactively and transparently telling that story, as well as advocating for better consumer protections and legal definitions of the business model.

DEVELOPMENTS DURING THE PERIOD
  • November 2014 – Immunotec and Institut de recherches cliniques de Montreal (IRCM) announced clinical results, published in the JOURNAL OF NUTRITION HEALTH AND AGING, showing that Immunocal imparted a performance benefit of approximately 10% in a model of resistance exercise in an elderly population of between 65 to 88 years. The results are very important in the context of healthy aging, as this process is typically associated with a decrease in muscle strength which comprises quality of life in later years.
  • February and March 2015 – Immunotec hosted 3 conventions and used this opportunity to launch 2 new products addressing demand in the skin care market for Mexico and the renewing cartilage or healthy joints market for Canada and the United States.

Revenues for the three- and six-month periods ending April 30, 2015 reached $20.0M and $37.9M compared to $19.1M and $35.2M in the previous year, an increase of $0.9M or 4.8% and $2.7M or 7.6%. This growth was generated mostly by increased sales in the United States.
"The recent volatility in currencies is causing businesses worldwide to review their supply chain strategies," said Mr. Patrick Montpetit, Chief Financial Officer. "Subsequent to the end of April, we secured additional financing to support strengthening our supply chain".
Adjusted EBITDA(1) for the three- and six-month periods ended April 30, 2015 amounted to $1.4M or 7.0% and $2.5M or 6.6% of revenues compared to $1.4M or 7.4% and $2.2M or 6.2% in the same period the previous year.
Net profit for the three- and six-month periods ended April 30, 2015 was $0.3M and $1.2M compared to $0.8M and $1.5M for the same period in the previous year.

The Code expressly prohibits pyramid schemes, deceptive or unlawful consumer or recruiting practices, misrepresentation of earning or sales potential, inventory loading and unreasonable entrance fees.

Top Direct Selling Beauty Companies

Women's Wear Daily (WWD), often referred to as the ‘bible of fashion’ has published the 2014 Beauty Inc Top 100, it’s annual ranking of the world’s biggest beauty companies in the latest issue of its Beauty Inc magazine. This list includes 16 Direct Selling Companies, that have also featured recently in the DSN 100 list by industry publication Direct Selling News, proving that some of the largest players in direct selling are also some of the biggest names in beauty.
According to the list, while some key players faced significant challenges in 2014, total sales for all 100 companies reached $207.41 billion, a 1.4 percent increase year-on-year. L’Oréal accounted for 14.4 percent of total sales, while the top 10 companies overall generated sales of $120.42 billion, or 58 percent of total Top 100 sales.
Japanese Direct Selling company Noevir Holdings led the 50 public companies on the list with a margin of 26.2 % in 2014. Noevir was ranked at No.68 in the DSN 100 list this year.
Rodan+Fields (No.79), Faberlic (No.95) and Nerium International (No.59) are the three direct selling companies included in the list of companies that witnessed Top 10 Sales Gain.
