Alliance In Motion (AIM) is celebrating its 9th anniversary in Bocaue in the Philippines this week and has set a record for the largest human smiley formation recorded by the Guinness World Records.
This MLM company is formed in the Philippines by the triumvirate – ownersDr. Eduardo Cabantog, Francis Miguel and John Asperin in September 2005.
A total of 6,667 distributors of AIM Global gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila to beat the previous record of 4,047 participants achieved by Smile Hypermarket (Qatar) in Doha, Qatar, on 27 March 2015.
The company distributes and markets top-of-the line food supplements manufactured by Nature’s Way USA, and premium blended beverages. AIM Global is the only direct sales company accredited by Nature’s Way USA as its exclusive distributor for Direct Sales in the Philippines.

Alliance in Motion is a relatively unknown outside Asia, however the company has hundred thousands of distributorsworldwide and CEO Dr. Eduardo Cabantog was voted Nr. 1 in the Top Direct Selling CEO in the world 2014.

Herbalife Retaliates With A Website Attacking Bill Ackman

Herbalife Ltd. went on the attack against nemesis Bill Ackman on Monday, debuting a website that paints the billionaire hedge fund manager as an irresponsible opportunist.
Therealbillackman.com includes media reports about legal probes into his anti-Herbalife campaign as well as videos detailing Ackman’s investment failures. The counterpunch comes more than two years after Ackman started a site called factsaboutherbalife.com to aid his campaign accusing Herbalife of running an illegal pyramid scheme.
“When Bill Ackman’s wrong, he’s really wrong,” one video caption on Herbalife’s website reads. Another asks, “Really, Bill?”
Herbalife’s new site is its most public response yet after plenty of maneuvering behind the scenes. The company overhauled its lobbying and public-relations staffs and hired outside help to bolster its image amid federal and state probes into its business practices. The company has repeatedly denied Ackman’s allegations.
Ackman didn’t respond to messages seeking a response. A spokesman for his hedge fund, Pershing Square Capital Management LP, declined to comment.
Herbalife’s shares rose 0.7 percent to $52.60 as of 10:01 a.m. in New York. They had increased 39 percent this year through Monday’s close.

Therealbillackman.com is among several domain names Herbalife snapped up soon after Ackman began his public assault in December 2012. None had been used until now. At the time Herbalife bought the names, Ackman questioned whether a “legitimate company would do something like that.”
“The spotlight is on Herbalife, and they are doing everything they can do to turn it away,” Ackman said at the time.
Ackman, who shorted $1 billion of the company’s stock, has said Herbalife is focused on recruiting new participants into its network of independent distributors — rather than selling products to consumers — a hallmark of a pyramid scheme. The recruits are suckered into spending thousands of dollars on overpriced weight-loss shake powders and other wares that they can’t sell, Ackman has said.
The high-profile campaign by Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital Management hedge fund against Herbalife has prompted U.S. prosecutors in New York, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Trade Commission to look into the dietary supplement maker’s marketing and operations.
Ackman’s methods have drawn scrutiny to him as well. The FBI is investigating a contractor hired by Pershing Square and whether false statements were made to regulators, two people familiar with the matter said in March. Ackman, who has denied any wrongdoing, said at the time that he was aware some of his contractors were contacted by the FBI.

Spanish Direct Selling Sector Generates 634 Million Euros In 2014

The turnover of the Direct Selling sector in Spain has grown 7.8% in 2014 despite the economic crisis, says the report presented this month by theSpanish Direct Selling Association (AVD). The organization, which represents 3/4 of the sector, has published a report defining a leap in the Spanish Direct Selling market with new trends and profiles.
In 2014 direct selling companies in Spain generated 634 million euros, compared with 588 million last year, with an increase of 8.7% in the number of purchase orders, reaching 5.1 million orders in 2014. The report also confirms the trend of more young women becoming entrepeneurs in this sector.
It is estimated that each year around 9.3 million people invest in products from the direct selling industry in Spain with the number steadily increasing. However, this number is far below neighbouring countries where Germany ranks first with a market share of direct sales in Europe of 27%; followed by France with 17%, UK with 11.5% and Italy 9.9%. According to Seldia's data, Spain represents around 2.5% of the European Direct Selling sector. 
New professional profile: woman, 27 years old
According to the AVD report, the number of young direct selling professionals (Under 30 years old) has increased 13%, with a new top profile of direct seller: woman (72% of professionals are women), with an average age of 27 years, and with more education (almost 15% have a university degree). This new profile shows that direct selling is increasingly being seen as an opportunity to create one's own business. This is a very important trend considering the high percentage of youth unemployment.  
The strenght of the direct selling market can be seen through the growing of the number of professionals, that has increased by 2%, with a total of 164,212 people at an average age of 43 years. This also shows the rejuvenation of direct sellers.
89% of the sellers are working part-time, while 11% work full time. Although the trend is now moving towards full-time involvement, there’s still room for improvement as compared with other countries across Europe. Women represent 68% of the total of direct sellers. However, there is a progressive trend towards balance: in 2014 the percentage of men has grown by two points.
"We believe there is a lack of knowledge about business world in Spanish society, and a lack of a culture of entrepreneurship, and this makes people fear starting a business in Spain. We have a challenge in raising awareness among different social, economic and political stakeholders on the potential of direct selling and its value.  We estimate our market penetration is only about 30%, which means there is a potential 70% customer base still out there," explains Carlos Barroso, President of the spanish Direct Selling Association.

David B. Holl Appointed Direct Selling Association Chairman

At its annual business meeting, Direct Selling Association today announced that David B. Holl, president and chief executive officer of Mary Kay Inc., has been named Chairman of the Board for 2015-2016. Holl succeeds M. Truman Hunt, president and chief executive officer of Nu Skin Enterprises.
"I'm pleased to accept this leadership role at a dynamic time for the American economy," said Holl. "We have a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate the value of entrepreneurship and small business that our industry represents as part of a healthy marketplace."
Holl joined Mary Kay Inc. in 1993 and was named chief executive officer in 2006 after several promotions.  Previously, he was a Vice President at Citibank, based in New York.
"David is a force in direct selling, and we are pleased that he has accepted this position," said Joseph N. Mariano, DSA President.  "I look forward to his leadership as we continue to make a strong case for direct selling in the months ahead."

Sophie Paris Celebrates 20 Years Of MLM Success

Sophie Paris is without a doubt one of the most successful multi-level-marketing companies to hit Indonesia. The fashion, beauty and healthy-living company, headquartered in Jakarta, now has millions of members inIndonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Morocco, and it plans to expand to other countries. But business was not always so rosy for the retail giant.
“We started from zero,” said French national Bruno Hasson, founder and chief executive of Sophie Paris. Hasson and his wife, Sophie Martin, started the business — now worth millions of dollars — in the garage of their home in Cipete, South Jakarta, in 1995.

“I was selling farming machines in Jakarta at that time,” said Hasson. “But it was not my passion.”
The couple came up with the idea of starting their own business, but were initially at loss of what to do.
“I was thinking what advantage we had, being French, in Indonesia,” Hasson reminisced.
Then, he noticed that Indonesian women from every economic status and background adored French fashion. Their fascination was reflected through the common sight of copies of French products sold in department stores and markets across the nation.
Hasson and Martin then began designing women’s handbags with Parisian styles. Their first target market were their own friends and colleagues.
“We took pictures of our handbags, copied them and put them in photo-albums,” said Hasson, with a nostalgic smile. “We then passed the photo albums around among our friends and colleagues.”
Seeing the chic designs of the handbags, as well as the affordable prices, their friends and colleagues made the first orders. They also asked Hasson for more photo albums to distribute to their friends and families.
And so, the idea to start a MLM-based company was born.
“Twenty years ago in Jakarta, there weren’t many shopping malls,” said Hasson. “And there was barely any Internet. So, the easiest way [to sell products] was through MLM.”
Their product range expanded to include clothes shoes and accessories — for men, women and teenagers — and cooking utensils.
The company has now moved from a small garage in Cipete to a grand building on Jalan T.B. Simatupang in South Jakarta, employing more than 700 people in their new headquarters alone.
The brand now caters to more than 3.5 million members in Indonesia.
“But Philippines is the biggest [market for Sophie Paris] after Indonesia,” said Hasson, recipient of Ernst and Young’s “Best Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 2014.
“Sophie Paris was built with the vision to deliver happiness,” said Hasson. “And for 20 years, we’ve worked hard to achieve the success that we share together [with our members].”
Most of Sophie Paris’s members are housewives who initially sought to earn an additional income, but “now they’re entrepreneurs,” said the father of three.
To mark their 20th anniversary, the brand recently released a series of premium watches for men and women.
“Nowadays, watches don’t only tell the time,” said Hasson. “They’re also fashion statements of the wearers.”
The products’ simple designs are “in line with what customers want these days,” said Shiny Mentari Putri, Sophie Paris fashion accessories director. “Based on our observations, they no longer want superfluous details on their watches. What they want is analogue watches with simple designs, a luxury that’s rather felt than seen.”
The premium watches are all assembled in South Korea but are powered by Japan’s Quartz.
Named Madeline, Miley and Monique, are all made of golden or silver-hued stainless-steel guaranteed to be tarnish-free for three years.
The men’s watches, named Montana, Nasua and Noe, look more complex. Nasua, which comes in solid gray stainless-steel bezel and strap, for example, also functions as a calendar, stopwatch and tachymeter. Each timepiece has a water resistance of down to 50 meters (5-ATM).
Both the men and women’s range are sold between Rp 1.2 million and Rp 1.7 million ($90-$130).
“The prices are way below those of international brands, and yet the quality is really competitive,” Shiny said, to which Hasson agreed.
“There are indeed a lot of other watches [on the market],” said Hasson. “But with this quality and at these prices, I think ours are a good deal.”
The brand also offers a number of medium-class watches, including the “Son Altesse” series for women and the “A.L.I.V.E” series for men.
“[Sophie Paris’s] choices for women’s watches are so exciting,” said Astri Abyanti, a public relations officers of an upscale Jakarta mall who attended the launch for the company’s new collection of watches. “They’re available in many different colours and styles, which is necessary for women, as we need to match our watches to our wardrobe.”
With so much success under their belt, the founders of Sophie Paris continue to aim even higher by targeting a 20 percent increase in sales.
“Of course, there are many challenges for Sophie Paris,” said the founder. “It won’t be easy. But I believe the future will be very bright and we can achieve even bigger success.”

Peruvian Direct Selling Supplier Acquired

ACON Investments, L.L.C. announced today that it has completed the acquisition of a leading supplier of the direct selling industry in the Andean Region.
Pieriplast S.A.C., a Peruvian supplier of luxury high-end, customized packaging solutions for the direct sales cosmetics industry, along with Intecplast S.A.S., a leading Colombian rigid plastic packaging manufacturer focused on personal care, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals will be consolidated under a new holding company, Amfora Packaging S.A.S to form one of the largest pan-Andean plastic packaging companies with over 800 employees and production facilities in Lima, Peru and Bogota, Colombia.
ACON's investment in Amfora supports the existing management of Intecplast and Pieriplast. Mr. Jose Alejandro Arango, the CEO of Intecplast, will become Amfora's CEO and Mr. Renato Pierinelli, founder and former CEO of Pieriplast, will retain an important equity stake in Amfora and will become both the Chief Technical Officer and Chairman of the Board of the Company.
"The integration of Intecplast and Pieriplast into Amfora forms the leading manufacturer of plastic packaging for cosmetics and personal care products in the Andean region. The Company will be well-positioned to enter new export markets and at the same time capitalize on a fragmented industry in the Region with few competitors able to develop and produce quality products acceptable to multinational customers," commented Jose Miguel Knoell, Managing Partner of ACON.
The investment is representative of ACON's continued investment strategy throughout Latin America where it has been actively investing for nearly two decades in medium-sized businesses across a range of industries related to Amfora including retailing and light manufacturing. The transaction also builds on ACON's experience owning and operating businesses active and growing in multiple markets.
Mr. Arango commented, "We are proud to unite our companies. These transactions and the merger of Intecplast and Pieriplast will benefit our customers since we will be the only 'one-stop shop' alternative for customers with industry leading service and quality products including a dedicated senior team focused on innovation."
Mr. Pierinelli added, "Based on our clients' needs and requests we had contemplated expanding into Colombia for the past several years and this merger finally achieves this in the most effective way possible. One of our main objectives is to bring more innovation across our product platforms."
The transaction represents the third investment made from ACON's fourth pool of capital for Latin America, ACON Latin American Opportunities Fund IV, L.P.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The American Direct Selling Association capped its annual meeting in San Antonio with this year's ETHOS Awards at a Gala on Tuesday evening. The event revealed the winners of this year’s ETHOS Awards in 7 categories, as well as a new inductee into the DSA Hall of Fame.
Each year, the ETHOS Awards recognize a handful of DSA member companies for implementing programs that empower their sales force and bring greater awareness and understanding of direct selling to the general public. It means their earnings are frozen and a termination is possible.

"Ron and Leslie have millions of dollars going through their NERIUM organization and to have their BIG income unilaterally yanked away is beyond belief.
The problem supposedly stems from drama around the opening of Korea and doing it the "Nerium Way". But as I understand it, Ron and Leslie are the uplines. It's their teams being super aggressive.
It's HARD to build these teams and to think it can be taken away in one fell swoop makes me nauseous.
I was a founder of the Distributor Rights Association and have fought against actions like this for many years. The companies, because of the efforts of people like Ron and Leslie, get rich, arrogant and start believing it was them that built this success and that everyone is expendable.

Global Ambassador and ViSalus Co-Founder Nick Sarnicola and wife Ashley made history with a generous $200,000 donation to Muskegon Community College’s (MCC) four-year-old Entrepreneurial Studies program in Michigan, the college officially announced today. The media responded accordingly with overwhelming news and video coverage including stories that appeared on ABC, FOX and more.
Local real estate developer Jonathan Rooks donated the former Masonic Temple in downtown to the College as the new hub for entrepreneurial and related business generating activities. He tapped long time friend and West Michigan native Nick, who together with Ashley responded through their Next Generation Entrepreneurs (NextGEn) Foundation with a $200,000 permanent endowment to the Foundation for Muskegon Community College (FMCC). The fund will provide a $10,000 annual Rooks Sarnicola Entrepreneurial Award to MCC Entrepreneurial Studies program graduates.
“Jon and Nick are making history at MCC with these incredibly generous gifts,” says Director for the FMCC Tina Dee, adding, “The total value of $550,000 is larger than any other single past contribution and will have an enduring and positive impact on our students and the greater community we serve.”
The nearly 24,000 square foot edifice built in 1948 is set to re-open as the Rooks Sarnicola Center for Entrepreneurial Studies by Fall 2017.
“The building and scholarship fund will serve the dual purpose of catalyzing our regional economy and providing much needed entrepreneurial training for our residents,” says MCC President Dale K. Nesbary.
Nick and Ashley’s donation supports innovation and entrepreneurship among college students, and echoes what the couple has been doing to give back to local communities for years through ViSalus.
“We would love to see the next successful business owners of Muskegon come right out of the Rooks Sarnicola Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and make a big difference locally one day,” says Nick.
The endowment is a local example of what the power couple’s global vision for giving back holds. Nick and Ashley seeded the NextGEn Foundation with $1 million, backed by a mission to foster entrepreneurship through scholarships, seed capital and mentoring for budding entrepreneurs.
Although the couple has amassed $11 million in Vi career earnings, they’ve been transparent about their community service oriented values from day one.
“It’s not about making a ton of money,” says Ashley. “It’s about getting to a place in life where you can give back.”
